“So happy for Luli!” Dato wrote on Facebook.

Arroyo recalled that he always assumed Luli would attain her childhood dream of becoming a diplomat. He said Luli wanted to pursue a diplomatic career “even as early as when she was 13.”

GMA proud of daughter Luli on envoy post: ‘She is highly qualified on her own’
By Billy Begas
Former President and incumbent Senior Deputy Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo thanked President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and members of the Commission on Appointments (CA) for the appointment and confirmation of her daughter Evangelina Lourdes “Luli” Arroyo-Bernas as the Philippine ambassador to Austria.
“I thank President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. for appointing Luli as ambassador to Austria and the Commission on Appointments for confirming the appointment. My husband and I are proud of what our three children have achieved,” Arroyo said.
Arroyo-Bernas was appointed in mid-October by Marcos as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Philippines to the Republic of Austria.
The post has concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Slovenia, and the Slovak Republic. The Commission on Appointments confirmed the appointment of Ambassador Arroyo-Bernas last December 7.
Arroyo also thanked the members of the media who mentioned Ambassador Arroyo-Bernas’ qualifications and stressed that she passed the examination for Foreign Service Officer (FSO) in 2000.
Arroyo-Bernas was one of only three passers out of the over 3,000 examinees of the 2000 FSO
