In the classroom, Mr. Brown muses how "strange" it must be to come from "one of the underdeveloped countries" to England and says that education inspectors are usually "interfering old fogies", in response to which Mr. Kenyon observes that he has "some rather unique ideas." He realises his mistake when Miss Courtney comes to the classroom and promises Mr. Kenyon that Mr. Brown will be disciplined, but the inspector laughs and says "I can't remember when I last enjoyed myself so much." He then praises Mr. Brown as a "remarkable man" with "revolutionary" teaching methods, and encourages him to keep up the good work as he leaves. His wife arrives shortly thereafter.
